Garden Club: Friday, October 4 at 10:00 am at the Senior Center  Garden Club members meet the first Friday of every month: even months at the Putnam Diner. Newcomers are welcome.  

Caregivers Support Group – Saturday, October 5, 10:00 am 

Maureen Salerno, LCSW, is offering a session at the Center once a month for caregivers who need support and information. This group is for any family member or friend who cares for a loved one, whether the limitation is due to an illness, an injury, dementia or something else.

Prayers for Peace: Wednesday, October 2, at 3:00 

People of all faiths are welcome to join us to share prayers and inspirational writings for both inner peace and world peace. Participants can bring a prayer or quote of their choosing. We will also have available books with prayers and writings from all religions, encompassing many themes. Hosted by Susan and Michael Dutton.

Bronx Club: Wednesday, October 2, at 11:00 

We will share memories and experiences and meet other “Bronx Transplants”. We may live in Connecticut now, but our hearts will always be in the Bronx! 

 

Occupational Therapy’s Role in End-of-Life Care: Thursday, October 3 at 1:00 pm 

Melanie Evangelista, Clinical Assistant Professor of the Katz School of Yeshiva University, will discuss how human engagement and activities not only give meaning to life but also play a unique role in the comfort and quality of life for those with terminal illnesses.

Hot Dog Bingo: Monday, October 7 at 1:00 $6 covers both 1st Bingo card and refreshments. Additional cards are $1.00 each.  Please, adults only. Come for fun. 

 

Origami with Dirk – Tuesday, October 8, 2:00 pm 

You won’t want to miss this free class. When done, you will be taking home an origami bat, The perfect adornment for your Halloween pumpkin. Be sure to sign up for free.

Energy Healing and Reiki: Tuesday, October 8 at 1:00

Meet Kris, a Reiki Master Teacher and owner of Harmony Hub Studio, with years of experience in helping people discover the healing power within themselves. In her Reiki for Everyday Wellness workshop, she guides you through simple, soothing techniques that can help reduce stress, ease tension, and promote a sense of calm. Kris will introduce you to the concepts of Reiki and Somatic Healing, with a demonstration in Sound Healing. Relax and unwind in her free introductory workshop. Be sure to sign up at the desk.

Cooking with Puti: Friday, October 11 at 12:00 

Join Puti in the kitchen for a meatballs and sausage demonstration. Sign up and join us. Tasting is available thanks to the support of the Friends of the Senior Center.

Intuitive readings are sessions where a professional reader will read your energy vibrations. Readers are usually empaths and healers who are sensitive to other’s energy. In honor of our Senior Center Director, Home well Homecare is presenting a program to remind us of how easy it is to fall and the social and emotional results of repeated falls. The main topic will be those steps that will help you avoid a fall. Sign up and join us.

Foot Reflexology Appointments with Eileen Byrnes: Tuesday, October 22 at 9:00 and Friday, October 25 at 1:00 Reflexology reduces stress, promotes relaxation, improves circulation of oxygen and nutrients, also detoxifies and cleanses the body.  Eileen Byrnes, a nationally certified reflexologist, provides one-on-one therapy appointments. Since this is partly funded by the Friends of the NFSC, you may sign up for a 30-minute appt. for only $25.

Housing Market Update Wednesday, October 23 at 1:30 pm. Melissa Luks Fidanza will bring back the Luks Realty team to fill us in on the most up-to-date housing market condition. They are making themselves available for all your questions.

Makeup for the Mature Woman: It’s Time to Plan Your Holiday Look Thursday, October 24,  at 1:00 pm This two & a half hour workshop with professional makeup artist Joby Rogers is the perfect place for women of all ages & experience to learn how to create a makeup style that compliments their personal features & skin tone. Annual Craft and Bake Sale!: Saturday, October 26, 9 -4:00 

The Friends of the New Fairfield Senior Center work all year to make beautiful items to sell at the Craft sale and they have invited other crafters to join them. This is the perfect opportunity to start your holiday gift and decorating shopping.  There will also be homemade baked goods, the kind you don’t find in the store. Treat yourself! And be sure to bring friends.

Red Hat Luncheon: Tuesday, October 29 at 1:00 

The Sunshine Rambling Roses is the only New Fairfield officially registered chapter of the Red Hat Society. We are holding out our red-gloved hands and inviting you to join us at our next monthly luncheon, signup is required.
