New Fairfield Veterans Association

The New Fairfield Veterans Association would like you to know that in May, Governor Lamont signed a Law Establishing Property Tax Exemption for Veterans with Service-Connected Disabilities. The  Assessor would like you to know that there is more than one type of exemption for veterans, and you are welcome to refer your questions to that office at 203 312-5625.

College

If you are a veteran seeking an education to improve chances of employment, it is strongly recommended that you attend an  institution or obtain certification that has some type of accreditation. Accreditation ensures you are receiving a quality education that is backed by a professionally-recognized agency. This will allow you to be competitive among the employee pool.  Online and campus-based accredited programs exist for your convenience.

The VA will only provide funding for accredited institutions with a specific set of criteria.  A list of these schools, by state, can be found on the VA's website. If the school you wish to attend is not on this list, you should contact the Post-9/11 GI Bill commission to determine whether compromises can be reached.
