New Fairfield Veterans Association

Message from Milton Craven US Navy Veteran
New Fairfield Veterans Executive Board Member

On Saturday, May 9th, starting 10 am, the New Fairfield Veterans will be removing the old flags from Veterans headstones and replacing them with new flags at the 4 cemeteries starting with Mountain iew Cemetery on Route 37.

If you know of any scouts or students who need community service have them join the Veterans and bring the paperwork that needs to be signed. If you just want to come out and help, that is welcome, too.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and thank you for your support.

College

If you are a veteran seeking an education to improve chances of employment, it is strongly recommended that you attend an  institution or obtain certification that has some type of accreditation. Accreditation ensures you are receiving a quality education that is backed by a professionally-recognized agency. This will allow you to be competitive among the employee pool.  Online and campus-based accredited programs exist for your convenience.

The VA will only provide funding for accredited institutions with a specific set of criteria.  A list of these schools, by state, can be found on the VA's website. If the school you wish to attend is not on this list, you should contact the Post-9/11 GI Bill commission to determine whether compromises can be reached.
